Filled glass wool belongs to a category of glass fiber, is a kind of artificial inorganic fiber.  Using quartz sand, limestone, dolomite and other natural ore as the main raw materials, with some soda, borax and other chemical materials fused into glass.  

In the melting state, with the help of external blowing type cast into flocculent fine fiber, fiber and fiber for three-dimensional cross, intertwined together, showing a lot of small gaps.  Such gaps can be regarded as pores.  Therefore, glass wool can be regarded as a porous material, with good thermal insulation, sound absorption performance.  

In gymnasium, workshop and other large space, in order to absorb sound and reduce noise, often use glass wool as the main absorbing material of sound absorption body.  The sound-absorbing body can be made into plate, column, cone or other abnormal body as required.  The interior of the sound absorber is filled with centrifugal glass wool and the surface is wrapped with a sound permeable surface layer.  Because the sound absorber has multiple surface absorption, the sound absorption efficiency is very high.  

In the road noise barrier, in order to prevent noise reflection, it is necessary to take sound absorption measures on the side facing the vehicle. Centrifugal glass wool is often used as the filling material and the surface layer is perforated metal plate barrier board.  To prevent glass wool from absorbing moisture outdoors, it is sometimes wrapped in PVC or plastic film.
